Portrait Photography London

Portrait photography gives us more room to concentrate on the individual than on a repeatable company-wide style.

We photograph founders, execs, board members and people whose image needs to carry more character than a conventional headshot. Where a portrait is not enough on its own, we produce AI corporate video to go with it. Sessions can be formal or relaxed, plain or environmental, tightly art-directed or deliberately simple.

A project may start with a single press image and grow into a library for PR, editorials and personal branding, in colour and black and white within the same session.

For consistency across teams, see Corporate Headshots. For campaigns, annual reports and workplace photography, see Corporate Photographer.

Creating the portrait

Our clients increasingly want lifestyle portraits with the polish of advertising photography. Wider shots use the setting to tell a story and reveal more character. Tell us your idea and we will recommend how to shoot it.

Sessions can be simple or carefully constructed. We work in offices and outdoor locations, bringing full lighting and tailoring the composition to each person.

We can follow a detailed creative brief or develop it with you, considering clothing, setting, lighting and the balance between personality and formality.

Many clients are US or European companies whose London offices look different from those at home. Our Augmented Imagery service can match portraits to any background or location. The portrait on this page was photographed in London for a US company, then given a US office background for her keynote speaking opportunities.

Portraits with a purpose

Most of the portraits we create are commissioned for a reason: press coverage, PR, editorial features, speaking engagements, websites, annual reports, book jackets, personal branding or wider marketing campaigns.

That affects how we shoot. A portrait intended for a magazine spread may need space for typography; a speaker may need horizontal and vertical options; a founder building a PR library may need enough variation to avoid using the same photograph repeatedly.

We therefore build a range within a single session rather than working towards one hero image, varying crop, orientation and expression where the brief calls for it.

Post-production can remain very natural or go further. Our Augmented Imagery work refines clothing, backgrounds and environments when the final image needs more than conventional retouching.
